As you consider retirement, if you plan to enroll in retiree benefits or have questions regarding your retirement coverage options, please contact the Baker Hughes Benefits Center at 1-866-244-3539, Option 1. If you are pre-65, go to https://bakerhughes.ehr.com to perform a retirement modeling which displays the retiree medical options and premiums. If you are post-65, go to https://my.viabenefits.com/bakerhughes to review the medical plans.
Don’t wait until the last minute to follow these steps:
Effective January 1, 2020, legacy Baker Hughes Incorporated employees must be at least 60 years of age and have at least 10 years of service to be eligible for the Retiree Medical plans. You must be covered under an eligible Baker Hughes active Medical plan at the time of retirement to be eligible for either the Baker Hughes Retiree Medical plans or coverage through Via Benefits. (You can still enroll in an individual plan to supplement Medicare on your own.)
If you are under age 65:
If you are age 65 or older, there are no age or service requirements to be able to use Via Benefits, but:
If you meet eligibility, you will be able to make retiree medical elections once your retirement date is in effect and has been sent across to the Benefits Center via a Workday file feed.
If you retire but your spouse continues to work at Baker Hughes, you may:
Yes. If you are an eligible retiree, you may enroll eligible dependents if your dependents were covered under a Baker Hughes Medical plan at the time of your retirement. Eligible dependents include:
For more details about covered dependents, read the 2024 Retiree Benefits Guide. The 2025 Retiree Benefits Guide can be found here. You will be required to provide proof of dependent eligibility for any dependents who are covered under the Baker Hughes Retiree Medical plans. Intentionally covering ineligible dependents under the Baker Hughes Retiree Medical plans may be subject to termination of coverage. Immediately notify the Baker Hughes Benefits Center if your dependent becomes ineligible for coverage.

Yes. You can use Retirement Modeling, which is a pre-retirement modeling tool. If you are an active employee who is retirement eligible (you are at least 60 years of age and have at least 10 years of continuous service), you can model and view your retirement medical elections prior to your actual retirement date. Note that the Retirement Modeling tool only models pre-65 coverages and does not model post-65 coverages.
Go to bakerhughes.ehr.com/ESS/. On the My Benefit Summary tab, use the drop-down to select the Make My Retiree Medical Election. Then model your elections.
Note: Elections made and saved within 90 days of retirement will be defaulted if you retire during this time. Modeled elections will expire after 90 days. After your employment status changes from Active to Retirement status, you will have a 30-day retirement event enrollment window to enroll or make changes to your saved retirement modeling elections.
Coverage under your Baker Hughes active Medical plan ends on the date of your retirement. This FAQ describes the timing and your options for enrolling in retiree medical coverage and what happens if you don’t. If you do not enroll in coverage with Baker Hughes or Via Benefits within the specified time frame and per the enrollment procedures, you and your dependents will not be eligible for coverage.
If you are under age 65, you must enroll within 31 days from the date of your retirement. Your coverage begins on the first day of your retirement, with no break in coverage (if you enroll within 31 days). If you don’t enroll, you will not have any retiree medical coverage.
If you are age 65 or older, you must enroll within 63 days from the date of your retirement. Your coverage begins on the first day of the month after you enroll. So there’s no gap in coverage, you should try to retire on the last day of the month so your individual coverage begins the next day. Medicare allows you to enroll as early as 90 days prior to your retirement date. If you don’t enroll, you will have Medicare Part A (there’s no enrollment required) and you will not have access to Via Benefits advisors.

You may also make changes if you have a qualified change in status such as: adoption of a child, marriage, or divorce, your spouse has a change in employment status, or you move to an area not covered by your Medical plan.
