Paid Parental Leave or “PPL” is offered to all U.S.employees allowing them to take time off to bond with a newborn or for adoption purposes. PPL will provide 8 weeks of paid time off for secondary parents and either 10 or 12 weeks off for primary parent. Primary PPL weeks will be determined by what is covered under Short-Term Disability.

All US Baker Hughes employees are eligible for Paid Parental Leave. Prior service with either GE Oil & Gas or BHI counts towards eligibility.
Paid Parental Leave can be taken in two-week increments not to exceed the maximum eligible weeks. For example: you can take 4 two-week periods of PPL within in the first 12 months of the birth of your child.
Baker Hughes' Paid Parental Leave will be offset by any state paid family leave you receive. For example, if you live in California and receive 60% of your pay from the state, Paid Parental Leave will pay 40%. You will not receive more than 100%.
Mothers will be able to take Short-Term Disability (STD) followed by Paid Parental Leave when STD ends.
Fathers will be able to take up to 8 weeks of paid time off under the Paid Parental Leave policy.
Yes. Both employees can take Paid Parental Leave for each birth instance. Note that FMLA only provides a combination of 12 weeks for spouses who work for the same employer.
No. FMLA runs concurrently with Paid Parental Leave. If you the secondary parent and take 8 weeks of Paid Parental Leave you may request an additional 4 weeks of unpaid FMLA for the birth or adoption of a child, if you are eligible. FMLA will exhaust for primary parents during or at the same time as PPL.
No. You are not eligible for Paid Parental Leave if you foster a child. Paid Parental Leave is only for the birth or adoption of a child. However, you may be eligible for FMLA for fostering purposes.
