*Note that the insurance company that provides these benefits has additional requirements for domestic partner and domestic partner children qualification. Before enrolling, call the Baker Hughes Benefits Center at 1-866-244-3539 7 a.m. -7 p.m. , Monday – Friday to speak to a Representative to confirm your dependents are eligible for these benefits.
Baker Hughes follows the IRS rules that state domestic partners, and their children are not tax dependents per the IRS tax code. You must pay the premiums for their health benefits on an after-tax basis. The employer portion of the premium for non-qualified dependents is considered imputed income. IRS guidelines consider imputed income part of an employee’s taxable wages. It is recommended that you consult with your tax advisor.
For the definition of a “qualifying child” or “qualifying relative," see Internal Revenue Code Section 152.
Contact the Baker Hughes Benefits Center at 1-866-244-3539 if your domestic partner’s status has changed to a dependent for tax filing purposes under IRS Code Section 152. The imputed income reflecting the additional employee and Baker Hughes-subsidized (employer) medical costs will show on your paycheck under the "Imputed Income" section of your pay slip.
